Penetaui Kleskovic

Penetaui is of proud Croatian and M?ori heritage. He has a practical application of tikanga M?ori and is a highly proficient speaker of te reo M?ori. His background includes years abroad with rugby league, learning about corporate finance from Peter Kraus of Aperture Investors. Penetaui is Councillor of Ng? Tai o Tokerau M?ori Ward for the Far North District Council where he has a portfolio of waters and a commitment to contributing to the community. As General Manager of Te Aupouri, Penetaui brings his knowledge of the land of the iwi. Their primary turangawaewae is at Te Kao at the southern end of the P?rengarenga Harbour, with Te Oneroa-a-T?h? (Ninety Mile Beach) to the west and Tokerau (Great Exhibition Bay) to the east. In my role with Te Aup?uri, I oversee housing, infrastructure and economic development to ensure each initiative aligns with our vision for sustainable growth. I lead aquaculture expansion for the five Te Hiku Iwi, creating jobs and leading in the green-lipped mussel spat industry. On Council, I focus on delivering sustainable employment, fostering intergenerational opportunity, improving roading and streamlining FNDC processes to support iwi aspirations and remove barriers. As an advocate for fisheries, farming, forestry and whenua development, I honour the taonga returned through Treaty settlements and empower rangatahi with the skills to shape their futures.
